Is Autumny a word?

Aberlady and Gullane beachride.
Jake's sorted.

Another cracking autumny day here so I decided to head to the beach on the Pugsley. I gave Jake some treats and headed out, just me, my bike and my wee Ricoh PX camera. I cycled down the road to Longniddry where I jumped between the beach and the John Muir Way trail till I got to Aberlady bay. I headed out to the submarines and farted around on the beach for a while then rode through the dunes to Gullane. A mars bar and a can of Monster energy juice from the posh shop and I headed back to Aberlady bay to meet up with Neil who had his new Pugsley with him. We did another lap of Aberlady and Gullane with an awesome sunset for a background before Neil gave me a lift home where HB bought me a chicken wrap. Sorted.
Here's the day in pictures.

Octsober - 10 days in.

Ten days in to me and HB's no booze month and I've noticed the following health benefits;

  1. Fuck all.

We for a pint in the Winton at the weekend with Andre,  Andy,  Lindsay and Bob. It wasn't too bad but I reckon there's only so many pints of fresh orange and lemonade I could drink before I sharted my drawers. Gary and I didn't even bother going to the pub after a night cycle either which isn't much fun. Still, not long to go now.

I've been entertaining myself with the usual two wheeled activities. The weather has recently picked up and became all autumny, really nice for a spin on the bike. Ben, Bob, Andy and myself went for a spin on some of my favorite roads here in East Lothian. The air smelled clean and fresh and it was super clear, you could see for miles around. Perfect for a wee blast. I took the Gopro so here's the film and some photos from the day.

He's having a fucking pish.

Its been nice getting out on the pushbikes too. The 456 is due a drivechain overhaul so I've been using the Pugsley most of the time. It always amazes me how much difference a few psi in the tyres makes on this bike, night and day for grip and predictability on slippy surfaces.
I was out for a pedal this morning before work with Paul. There was still frost here and there and the ground is becoming harder. I'm hoping we get quite a cold winter so the ground freezes up and we don't have to cycle through shitey mud when riding the epic trails around here.

Octsober the 1st.

For some fucking unknown reason I agreed to do Octsober with HB. That means no booze for me for pretty much the whole of October, with only a possible visit to a beer festival on the 27th to look forward to.

Fuck sake.

Anyone else want to join us?

On a better note HB has bough herself a new car! A Fiat 500 Twin Air. Its braw! She got it from Cowan's, a local garage just a few miles from our house. Its got all the toys and the wee 900cc engine sounds pretty cool.

Being off the sauce means I'll miss my after cycle pints in the Winton, a fucking welcome luxury after slopping around in the mud and arguably the most enjoyable bit of our night cycles. The rain has been fucking heavy recently resulting in some of our trails becoming watery quagmires making me and the bikes mucky as fuck. I even managed to spray myself with a mix of dirty water and shit the other night after taking a short cut though a flooded field and not noticing the massive pile of shit on the other side of the hedge. Fucking orange juice just won't cut it.

I'll keep posting updates on here to see how Octsober goes and if I notice any major health benefits. HB reckons I'll notice a big difference. I don't.
I'm sure my liver will be fucking glad of the break.

Bikes, beers and barbecue

Saltoun views.

I was out round the local trails again last weekend. I was joined by HB, Ben on my 456, Rick, Gary, Tom and Andy. Before we set off I put some pork that had been marinating overnight on the smoker.

Meat on the smoker.

After we tracked Rick down stocking up in the shop we set off round Saltoun and Kinchie. We stopped for a breather before we headed up to the top of Saltoun and Rick whipped out a bacon roll! Bastard! I wasn't jealous at all.

We had a good ride apart from HB and Andy ending up in the nettles, and then we hit the Winton for a few pints. There was a new barmaid in the pub too! When we got back to ours the pork on the barbie was done. This time it had turned out fucking grand. I done some rump stakes marinated in chilli, garlic, honey and soy sauce too. I was pretty happy with the lot and it all went down well, result! Bob, Faithir, Dave and Jamie turned up and more beer was drunk. Awesome night.
