You see me rollin'.....

Pugsley frame.
Roli and the Pugsley.

Ok, when I last left this we had one fucked Pugsley, a sick ass new car and...... a shiney new frame!
The new Pugsley frame was built up a couple of weeks back, thanks to Dave at Law Cycles for getting me one nice and quick. I got the frame resprayed Porsche peppermint green again by Colin at Smillie Paint who gave it the usual flawless finish and Dave G gave me another hand building it up and swapping the parts of the old frame.
All left to do was to get out and ride the fucker!

I met up with Bruce and some of the folk from the UK Fatbike forum for the usual cycle out to the submarines at Aberlady Bay then along to North Berwick for a spicy haggis and chips. Braw.

We met these guys at Berwick Law, the big metal thing is a listening device the girl is making for her uni project. They said the couldn't hear much due to the wind and it was really cold on their lugs! The ear muffs they have planned should fix that.

A few days after that I headed up the Lammermuirs with Paul. There had been some snow fall so I wanted to get up for a play about on the Pugsley. The first bit of the track up was sheet ice, it was a fucking nightmare to walk on never mind cycle on but we eventually made it to the top of Lammer Law without any crashes, which is a fucking miracle considering Paul's current track record.

I had my Gopro with me so I've made a video using some bits filmed on these cycles and some from a spin I went on with Roli the dog the other day. The song is One Big Moment by Orbital. Paul, Gary, Bob, Gav, Tom the Bass and myself went to see Orbital in Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago, I was bouncing about all over the place at the front. It was fucking epic.

BIKES!!!

Had plenty of bike related fun over the weekend. On Sunday I had Bob and Bennetts crashing on the couch after we had his birthday beers at our's the night before. After watching the Moto GP with some quality bacon and black pudding rolls Bob and I joined Ben for a spin down the Borders to visit Calvert.

Petrol.

We left East Lothian and followed the classic down the A68 and back the A7 route stopping to fill up with petrol before hand. You can't really see it in the photograph but fuel around here is around £1.34 per litre. For my American readers that works out as around $9.50 a gallon. Fucking expensive eh? After being shafted at the petrol station we carried on to Calvert's for some coffee and a chat about an up and coming bike trip.

Looking at East Lothian.

Satuday was a cycling up the Lammermuir hills with friends from the East Lothian Mountain Bike pussbook group. I've bought a basic GPS thingy from a work mate and it worked a treat for keeping us on the route I'd planned. The route I'd planned was slightly fucked and swampy but we all had good fun, stopping for pints and a poo at the Goblin Ha' in Gifford and having a few more beers in the Winton when we got back.

The route the GPS thingy tracked. We done about 23 miles.

I got out midweek for a solo spin on the Pugsley. Just my usual route along Gosford to the subs and back but it was still nice to get out later on for a sunset. I even tried my hand at some beach art. It turned pretty misty on the way home though!

I'm heading for the wee clump of rocks just of the headland.

Here's a wee video I done to try and show crossing Gosford bay. Its a bit shit though.

Old Bastard

My cool wee new camera.

Last Monday it was my birthday so I took the week off work. HB got me a wee point and shoot camera, a Ricoh PX. Its nowhere as good as my Nikon D80 SLR but its tiny wee, its waterproof, dust proof and shock proof. It takes pretty good photographs too and can shoot HD video. I've spent most of the week out and about with the wee Ricoh in the awesome weather we've been having. Here's my week off in pictures.

Up the Lammys on the Pugsley
When I got up after my nightshift I got HB to drop me off at the foot of the Lammermuirs. I had planned to cycle from here to Carfraemill.

I've had the GS out a few times too. I've not got many photos though because I left the memory card at home! What a fud. The Ricoh has a wee bit internal memory though.

Aaron, HB and I went for a spin in Aaron's Landy to Tyningham Beach. I chucked the Pugsley in the back so Aaron and HB could try it out on the beach.

Nightmare!
I found a split in the front tyre of the Pugsley. I couldn't afford £85 for a new one.

Luckily for me Gary had a nearly new tyre that he sold me. Sorted!

I chucked the bike rack on HB's car and the Pugsley on the bike rack and went down to North Berwick to ride along to Canty Bay. I nipped in and visited Dave at Law Cycles too.

All this awesome weather coupled with some ace nights out with friends made an awesome week off. Thanks everyone for all the birthday wishes!
